Cecilie Løken studied the flute at the Royal Academy
of Music in London. She had her
international debut
as a soloist in 1994 with the Zurich Opera Orchestra and Marssis Jansons.
Since she was 21 years old,
she has held many principal positions in orchestras, among them,
the Norwegian Opera (1997-99) and
the Royal Opera in Stockholm (1999-2002).
She has won
the Princess Astrids Music Competi-
tion (1993) and is a pricewinner in Valentino
Bucci Competition, Rome (1994) and Musician of the
Year (1999).
She currently works as a contracted solo flutist in
many orchestras, among them Mahler Chamber
Orchestra, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra
and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2003 Cecilie recieved the honorary title "Associate
of the Royal Academy of Music " in London.
Her solo concerts are always filled with theatrical surprises, and she is always searching for new
ways of improvising and composing. (Pantomime and impro-theater studies 2004 and 2005;
folkmusic courses 2003). She has recieved great critical acclaim in the Times, Der Bund, Zurcher
Neue Zeitung and Aftenposten. Last year she recieved a 3 year Artist Grant from the Norwegain State.
